Room 9 have been wondering about little creatures, and have thought of lots of interesting questions to explore. The first one we tackled yesterday was:
What is an insect?
We thought... a fly, an ant, a ladybug, a slater, a beetle, a spider might be insects.
We knew a tiger wasn’t an insect. We thought that might be because tigers growl and insects don’t growl.
We looked at books and we found out...
Insects have 6 legs (so, a spider, a tiger and a worm aren’t insects)
Insects have 3 body parts
They have a skeleton on the outside (like a shell, not like bones)
Some insects have wings. They have antennae.
They lay eggs. Insects change - for example, from an egg, to a caterpillar, to a chrysalis, to a butterfly.
